WinSyslog 7.1 Released
Grossrinderfeld, 2006-07-10
Adiscon is proud to announce the 7.1 release of WinSyslog.
This release contains new features as well as bugfixes. Find a list below:
- Backup Email Server Support - permits to define a backup mail
server with the "send mail" action. If the primary server fails, the backup
serve is automatically been used. This increases reliability of timely email
delivery.
- Enhanced Filter "global conditions" - Added new feature to enhance the global filter
conditions Minimum Waittime and Fire only if Event Occurs... called "Global
Conditions relative to this property". This new feature controls the Global Conditions based on a property.
If e.g. the source is taken as the property to look at, the minimum waittime would be applied individually on each message source.
- New Action: Resolve Hostname Action - Hostname resolution was
previously part of the information source. Thus, the syslog receiver itself
was slowed down by name resolution calls. Now, hostname resolution is an
action. That moves the name resolution process to a later processing stage,
enabling even higher performance for message bursts.
- Performance Improvements by a Global DNS Cache - A new type of
DNS caching has been added. It maintains a single global cache for all
reverse name lookups. The cache size can be fully user-configured.
