Logger for Windows released as Freeware
Grossrinderfeld, 2005-04-14.
Adiscon today released logger for Windows 1.2 as freeware. "I
am proud to announce a freeware tool for the logging community", says
president Rainer Gerhards. "We are always trying hard to support the
community with the best available tools at the best price. We now have
been able to release this tool as freeware thanks to our loyal customers. Our goal is to provide good
value at the lowest possible cost. We hope to fund development by paid
support options, an alternative we consider for some of our tools,
most importantly those that we have begun to offer in the open-source world
(e.g. rsyslog,
liblogging).".
Among its re-positioning as freeware, Adiscon logger offers an important new
feature: the ability to send messages via plain tcp syslog. To use this
feature, you need a plain tcp capabale syslog server, as are Adiscon's products
under Windows as well as for example syslog-ng in the Unix/Linux world. Adiscon logger is an
enhanced UNIX-like logger command line tool. To learn more about it (and to
download it), visit Adiscon's
logger for Windows home page.
