Configuring syslog on Zyxel IES-1000
ZyXEL products are able to send system log to a Syslog deamon such as Unix Syslogd and
WinSyslog.
When DSL or Ethernet ports are linked up/down, IES-1000 sends a record to Syslog server.
IES-1000 Setup
The IES-1000 can be configured using the web interface, or the command line.
1. Web Configurator
The IES-1000 provides a Web configurator for easy management. Please use a Web Browser with your AAM1008 or SAM1008's
IP to access the Web configurator. The default ID and Password is 'Admin' and '1234'.
- Enter 'Maintenance' webpage.
- Enable or disable sending any logs to UNIX Syslog Server.
- Assign the Syslog Server IP
- Choose a log facility from 'Local 1' to 'Local 7'

2. Command line
Syntax:
syslog - Display current settings.
syslog <mode> - Enable/Disable syslog.
syslog facility <facility> - Set syslog facility.
syslog server <server IP> - Set UNIX syslog server.
Where
- <mode> = "enable" or "disable"
- <facility> = "local1" to "local7"
- <server IP> = IP address of syslog server
Example:
192.168.1.1 sys> syslog enable
192.168.1.1 sys> syslog facility local2
192.168.1.1 sys> syslog server 172.21.1.109
